Planning on doing front pads on my '01 Boxster this fall before I put it away for winter. They aren't bad, but by end of the season, it'll be about time. The pads on it (I think are original) stop well, and without noise. No complaints. But they create dust like mad! I can spend all weekend detailing the car, take it for a spin around town, and by the time I get back, the wheels are dirty again.

Anyone have any recommendations? Something good, quiet, and low dust? Is ceramic the way to go?

I've only tried one other brand of pads for my 01 Boxster- Pagid blacks, and they were ok, but they emitted just as much or more brake dust as the OEM pads, and also squealed like heck, so I had to install anti-squeal pads on the back of the backing plates of the pads. Personally, I'd just stick with the OEM pads. They perform well, and do not squeak. I went back to the OEM pads recently and am glad I did.

OEM or Mintex work fine for the street. Pagid orange or black for high temp track use. My limited experience with ceramic pads reveals that they need lots of heat for full braking effectiveness and when putting around town, cold ceramics often squeal like a pig. Polish your wheels and they will gather less dust.
