Hi there folks.

I am not a Porsche owner but am keen to take advantage of some Porsche/brembo design and hope I could draw on the expertise on this forum. I own an Audi coupe quattro turbo 1986 and am trying to fit it out with PROPER front brakes. My main concern is to be able to keep the OE Ronal 15” rims which in itself places restrictions.

However, other people have done this by combining 996 (same as Boxster S?) calipers with a 295mm disc. I intend to do this too but I can get access to 993 front callipers more easily than 996’s.

Would the two (993’s and 996’s) be interchangeable?

They are both radial mounted with spacing 130mm between mounting holes.

IMPORTANT: ARE THEY VERY SIMILAR IN PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS?

Is there any reason why the 996’s would be a MUCH better option?

To the best of my knowledge the 993’s have 33mm and 41mm pistons whereas the 996’s have 36mm and 40mm pistons so shouldn’t be a massive difference in their performance.

Also is the following correct

Passenger front caliper part numbers

993 caliper part numbers

993.351.421 00 Carrera 2

993.351.421 20 Carrera 4

993.351.425 10 Turbo

996 caliper part numbers:

996 351 425/6 01 Carrera 2

996 351 425/6 21 Carrera 4

996 351 429/30 10 Carrera 4S

Any significant difference between the calipers for Carrera2 and Carrera4 within the same model eg. 993 or between Carrera 4's from across models 993 to 996?

Any help would be really appreciated!
