engine shutting off still....did a few things, any ideas guys?

It's the black part with the electric connector, left upper side of the throttle body. ;)

It's the black square piece on the upper top left side of the throttle body. It has two screws and a electrical connector that remove it. It gets filled with carbon. I had idle surging issues on my old 996. RFM suggested I clean it and it fixed my issue. Very simple job. I believe RMF suggests to use brake fluid as a cleaner. I used Carb cleaner and it did the trick. Car ran perfectly after that.

Yes, egas started with DME 7.2.

A dirty throttle body is even more of a concern on egas cars because the idle is controlled by minutely opening the throttle butterfly. And, if that gets dirty and gummed up you get a bad idle.

After reading this thread, I went out and cleaned mine as preventiative. Wasn't too bad, but there was some black soot stuff top and bottom. I don't have any idle control valves 'cause it is e-gas, but I will start doing this every year I think, as part of my regular maintenance. I took my throttle body compleley off to do it. On mine, it was just four bolts and one electric connector.

You will need to wait for the appropriate number of drive cycles or turn the CEL off with a scan tool.
