Right Cornering Light ?

Hi guys

I was driving up the motorway the other day and decided to switch my lights on, as soon as I switched them on a message appeared on the info screen "Check Right Conering Light" so I pulled into the next service station and got out to have a look. Although the message had come up I could not see a light out. Now everytime I turn the dipped beams on (xenon) this message pops up.

It would be much appriciated if someone could tell me what the cornering light is or if they have had a similar message pop up.

Do a search here - others have had grounding and corroded socket problems.

Just in Case ....

Right Cornering light is the light that lights up to illuminate the corner as you turn right, when you stopped and had a look, did you wind the steering wheel over to the right as if cornering ? If wheels where pointe straight ahead you'd not see the right cornering light lit

note, when one light burns out Neither side will work, this is the small round light that comes on when turning steering wheel to left or right.

i just replaced mine

they are a PIA to replace as you need to use needle nose players

I had this problem on my cayenne, and the dealer replaced the light socket for the corning light, the part only cost $7-9 and its just a small black socket that the bulb goes into. Moisture usually causes it to go bad. Even though my car was out of warranty he only charged me for the part and it took 5 minutes to replace it.

I've had this problem off and on which was finally resolved when they changed the wiring/plug that the headlight unit slides into.

I just replaced both of mine. Although the light is on, it still gives me the warning and I have yet to see it go on when I turn the corner now. Is there a module or relay that I need to replace?

Be sure you have the headlight assembly correctly seated and locked into place. I would remove the assembly and inspect the electrical connectors.

Item 10 from the above diagram looks like the holder for the incandescent turn signal lamp PY21W not the cornering light holder.

The cornering lamp is a halogen H3 lamp and has a different holder design.

You have a Turbo so you have HID lights.  The diagram above is incorrect for your car.  Here's the correct diagram--http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/hardparts.php?dir=9PA-03-06&section=905-01  Item 5 is the cornering light.  just a basic H3 halogen.

I do not have a turbo.  I have the base V6 2006 and furthermore, the bulb is functioning fine.  I just get the error message.

Yes.  i was looking at the instrument cluster in the original photo in this thread which shows a Turbo cluster.  Thought that was yours.  I have a Turbo which has the HID headlamps as shown in the diagram I posted.  If you have the standard headlamp system I'm not sure what your cornering lamps are.  HID units have 5 bulbs and standard units have only 4 bulbs.
