Gents,

When driving my '99 996 yesterday (90 degrees outside) I noticed the rear defogger switch light popped on. When I turned it off, it came back on after about 1 second. I tried several times to turn it off, but it would just keep on turning itself on. I'm suspecting it is a relay that needs to be replaced. Anyone have any idea which relay it is, where it is located, part number and cost?

Anyone ever see this problem before?

Thanks,

Mark

There is a Boxster guy with the same problem. The switch will come on random. He notices it when he used the window or top switches.

Let us know why if you figure out the problem.

Loren,

Where is position 4? Is it somewhere in the fuse box next to the driver-side left foot, or located in a fuse box somewhere under the front hood?

Thank you Sir,

Mark

Loren,

Is this relay grid located under the front hood somewhere?  I don't recall seeing it in the passenger compartment.

Thank you,

Mark

Down in the footwell where the spoiler switch is.

Pull the cover off - use the hole.

(Jeff's pic - I think)
