A porsche dealer told me that they don't share repair records between dealers. Can anyone confirm/deny this? I always thought that all work done by dealers was saved in a central database.

TIA,

John

I believe you right. That sounds loony. What if you move? In my case the local dealer shares records with my indie repair shop.

Nope, unfortunately they generally do not share records. You may find a few dealers out there willing to work with you or other shops but it is few and far between.

Ah yes......BTDT.

Until last fall, Porsche NA did not have a system capable of storing that data centrally, or sharing between dealers. Each dealer kept their own data for each car serviced. And it took a very friendly dealer who would give you the service records for a newly purchased used car. I was told at that time that Porsche was going to implement a centralized system with that capability, but the service manager did not know the timing.
