Battery Replacement - which is for what?

Recommended Posts

it may sound stupid, but I need to change the Engine start battery and I don't know which one is the one that takes care for that? is the one from the trunk or the one from the driver seat?

I have a 04 CS. Could you please tell me what battery I should get also? I have checked and it seems that there are 2 options: one is 95amps and the other 110 amps. if this is not what I need please let me know.

also, I've seen on other cars that they inter change batteries from time to time. it could this be done on our cars?

the reset I'm speaking about is the one for the gearbox, you know the story of the car that learns how to change gears for the drivers needs and way to drive, blahh, blahh, how many minutes has to be unpluged.

many thanks :)

The rear battery is the starting battery but it wise to check the condition of the main battery also. I only reset I know of is to leave the ignition key in the on position for one minute before starting the engine after battery replacement. This is to help in the adaption of the electronic throttle bodies. If the bigger amp/hour battery would fit then I would use it.

thanks a lot.

its 2 batteries.

guess you are right, the one from the trunk is almost new, but the one from under the driver seat guess needs to be changed. I'll take them out tomorrow and see what I got.

Though, is common to change their places from time to time? thats what I heard other are doing. for instance there is a guy who has some limos and he told me that he is doing this swap from time to time.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just changed both batteries after having the truck in for service and Porsche saying I needed a new main battery to the tune of $900. I did it myself and unfortunately changing both batteries did not fix the issue as they suspected :( Just a note though... I have a 2004 with the Bose. There is, in fact, a battery under the subwoofer in the rear of the truck. I read a lot of posts all over the web that said if you had Bose you definitely did not have a battery. Well, after I took the Bose sub out, there was a very large battery under there :) Setting the two batteries side by side shows that you cannot "swap" these batteries. The main battery (under seat) is about 1.5" longer then the Aux/Starting (rear trunk) battery. It will physically not fit in the rear battery tray.
