Porsche dealer has informed me that the Boxster Tech Manual are not longer available through the dealership. They use to sell them for around $500. Found one site that is selling them for $2000 (ouch).

Any suggestions on where to get a set of these manuals?

The Boxter factory manual are many, many loose leaf binders. These are maintained with current information by adding and removing pages from supplements. The Boxter manual, WKD484 521 is currently at supplement 78.

The downside, other than the cost, is the time and effort to bring a new purchase current. Plan on at least 20 hours of detailed and concentrated effort to add and remove pages to go through the 78 supplements to bring the manual up to date. The other down side is that there are many typographical errors in the supplement instructions, so it takes extra effort to determine the correct action, when faced with incorrect direction.

The benefit is that the manual fully defines everything required for servicing the vehicle.

The problem with a "Manual" is that they are very subjective, I say tomato you say tomatoe.

I have done many things described in a manual which left me in a quandary as to why I did it that way.

I usually read about the part, learn where it is and have at it. I have done it this way for approximately 25 years, usually never had many problems; except for what was left out of the "Manual."

A manual is like the being a doctor, they don't call it practice for nothing.
