I finally have the opportunity to buy my dream car after finding a below market deal on 2005 C2S with 18,000 miles. The original owner just had the oil changed at a Foreign Auto repair shop, but did not turn off the sensor light. I drove the car hard and it ran just like a brand new one I test drove at the dealer. The car is clean, car fax is clean and has almost no scratches. The interior just needs to be cleaned up and the car is perfect.

The owner allowed me to take the car to the Porsche dealer to check, but the shop did not have the time. I think the car is perfect, just concerned about the light.

Can a Porsche dealer tell you why the Service Now light is on and provide a recommendation within a few hours? Any ideas what I should do?

I would get a PPI done. Be sure it's the service reminder and not a check engine light. The service reminder just needs to be reset but only the durametric tool or the Porsche tools can reset it.

Thanks. Will do. What's the difference between check engine and service now?

A check engine light means that you have an emissions related problem that could cause poor performance, rough running, or damage to the engine and/or cats (when flashing).

A service reminder means that you have gone beyond the mileage to change the oil or some other preventative maintenance is required.
