In the last 6 months I bought a 2002 C4 Cabriolet w tiptronic. Love the car and my first Porsche. Bothers me that my wife loves to drive the car which means its not scary enough. I would like to also get an air cooled turbo with manual tranny. Not looking for some specialty model but what advice on best of breed for the air cooled years can someone give me. I would assume that the engine would have been in its most refined state near the end of its run before the water cooled engines came on line but don't know enough to understand if that was a stupid statement.

Advice?

Last of the air cooled turbos would be the 993 in 1998. I think they made a "S" version also. Someone with a lot more knowledge then myself will hopefully chime in.

The last of the air cooled twin turbos are the 993

1996- 993TT

1997- 993TT and the 993TTS (very rare)

1998- there were some in the ROW, not in the USA
