Automatic Climate Control

I almost always drive with the top down, but today it was over 90 degrees, I had a guest, and had to use the air conditioning.

The blower blew air, but it was as hot as the outdoors. NO cold air at all. No noise, no check engine light etc.

I tried all the climate control settings, still no luck. The fuse looks ok. What's up?

Lack on refrigerand perhaps, let the system check for leaks etc.

Should still be covered by the factory warranty period. Call your local dealer for conformation.

Yes, I am still under warranty, but I am surprised by this problem with such low mileage, particularly on the air conditioning which I do not often use. I suspect an electrical fault e.g. faulty rela yor switch, since I have never heard a bad compressor noise.

The condensors are exposed to road debris as they sit forward of the coolant radiators and can easily be damaged resulting in a leak.

I took it to the dealer yesterday. It was out of refrigerant. They recharged it with freon containing a dye, and I will return some time later to have the leak identified and repaired.

My car is now 5 years old. It too lost the refrigerant due to a leak. The leak was traced to a punctured hose from the compressor in the engine bay. There is a design flaw in the hose routing as the hoses sit against the rear bulkhead before passing under the car. Where the hoses sit against the bulkhead they rub against the screws that secure the sound deadening. As a result the rubber wears eventually holeing the hose. Hoses are not covered under warranty - extended or otherwise so its worth checking.

I think here in lays some of the problem. I never use my AC either. Always top down on a nice summer day. But, about once or twice a month I purposely run the AC to keep everything working and the seals and gaskets lub'ed. This is the recommendation I received a few years ago from Forums like this.
