I had this warning pop up after not driving the car for about 3 days. It was on and idleing rough for maybe 10 seconds and went away.

I haven't seen the warning again since Sunday, and all seems well for now. Should I take it in for a eval? What are some likely causes?

I saw the same a couple of days before my alternator went out. Watch your voltage and see if it dips when you turn on your headlights/AC. Changing it was not really hard at all. There is a great write up on 6 speed.

Good luck

Also if your alternator is at fault remember you can get a private shop to test it and replace, if necessary, only the voltage regulator which is inside the alternator. See this post Alternator...

jpflip is right...if you can have it tested and simply replace the regulator..you can save yourself a bunch of money...especially if you're taking it to the dealership. They'll probably recommend you replace the entire alternator. This presupposes that you have some degree of confidence in your ability to work on your own car. Most folks are reticent about working on their Porsches thinking that they'll mess something up....but these cars are pretty durable and not as fragile as some think. There are Do It Yourself instructions on some of the forums...possibly here....take a look and see if it's something you'd like to try yourself and save some money.

best of luck in your quest.
