I have a 2006 911 Cab with 18,000 miles.

After a drive, I park it in the garage, and there's a very distinctive smell (that I can't describe very well).

Could be related to tires, oil or brakes.

My question is: anybody else get a "distinctive smell" after driving? Or is this something I need to get checked out.

My 2005 997S has an 'aroma' not a smell.

I too think it's a combination of heated tires (PS2's are a fairly soft compound), brakes, coolant, oil, etc.

No leaks just an aroma.

Same here, I thought it was tires/breaks combo - it is distinctive but not overwhelming enough to call it 'smell'

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Yes, I think "aroma" is a better term than "smell".

Glad that I'm not the only person experiencing this.

Alan, I have a 997 Cab same year same mileage and it never occurred to me to mention that on the forum but I experience same thing. It is particularly noticeable after more spirited driving. I was also thinking brakes/clutch/rubber hoses.

I've noticed it too ~ It has always bugged me.

I think they all (996,997) have that smell. I guess you just get used to it. Because the engine is in the back on the smells from heat, tiress, brakes etc aren't as contained as they are in a front engine car.

Porsche aroma huh..... Never thought about it that way. :D

Maybe we can synthesize it and bottle it as Porsche cologne or aftershave.

Most Porsche enthusiasts will buy anything labeled 'Porsche'.

Label it "Porsh" and you might sell twice as much. :D
