03 Cayenne S, 58k miles. Lately, there has been a weird squealing noise that sounds like a belt coming from the engine. Also, the red light that usually flashes when changing to 4wd is now flashing periodically without me touching the lever.

Any ideas on what this could be? Low fluid? Or a more serious problem? Thanks!

Let check the fault codes first (ASAP), sounds like a transmission or electric servo motor problem, rather than low fluid.

Would there be a code if I'm not getting a CEL? I want to take it in, but the problem doesn't happen every time. So I'm afraid the dealer won't know how to fix it unless they can reproduce the problem. Thanks!

The red flashing light indicates an error (not engine related), be sure there are codes in the memory, no doubt about that.

I will try and read the codes with my OBDII scanner... if that doesn't work, I guess it's off to the dealership. Thanks RFM!

I am starting to get those as well. Any diagnosis?

You need a scan tool capable of reading the transmission codes. Durametric or Porsche tools are the only ones I know of.
