Hi,

I have a funny noise like a quiet horn that sound intermittently down by where the fuses are on the right hand side footwell!!!

I also get a horn beep when i lock the doors and alarm the car!!!

Does anyone know what this could be!!!

I'm pulling my hair out!!!

Thanks

Scott

The horn beep is probably down to one of three things - cubby-hole beneath your elbow is open, front or rear boot open. Try those.

Here is a long shot. A friend of mine just recently had a problem with rat/mice taking up residence in his cars. They like to eat wires and insulation. Caused $6500 damage in his new GT3 as they ate the O2 sensor wire harness. He has to wait for a new one to be made and shipped from the factory. Have you noticed any droppings in or around the car?

i have checked and double checked that its not because of the bonnet, boot or even the arm rest lid!!!

there definitely isn't any sign of hairy creatures setting up camp in my footwell so i'm really stuck as to what it might be!!

I have repaired the front end about 2 months ago because i bought it damaged but this sound has only just started and wasn't there before??

Any more ideas!!

Thanks

I'd guess you pinched a horn wire or front boot sensor wire during the front end repair. I'm thinking of a mild short on worn through insulation. In your position, I would probably repeat the repair disassembly process and look for pinched and worn wires.

I suggest that you solve one problem at a time.

The horn beep when you lock your car means that you have an alarm zone open. Most common causes for this are a bad or broken microswitch in the front trunk or a bad or misaligned microswitch in the center console.

What do i need to be looking for in either case??

I did check out the centre consul and it doesn't shut as well as it use to so this could be where i need to start!1

How do i go about re aligning the centre consul??

Thanks guys

If it does not shut well it is likely that your hinge is broken or bent. In that case you will need to have the hinge TSB performed. The TSB replaces the original plastic hinge with the current metal one. Some dealers will do the TSB for free and some will want to charge for it. You can check the microswitch when the hinge is replaced.

If you want to do it yourself send me a PM and I'll send you the TSB. Tools you will need are a Torx drivers, a drill, and pop-rivet gun.
