I went to see a 2001 2.7L yellow boxster today.... It has 78K km (50Kmiles).

Car looks clean, has a couple issues with the top. Very nice 18" rims with good rubber on the front, and what looks to be brand new rubber on the rear.

It seems to me that u had to give it some gas to get it to start rolling from a complete stop (used to a 2003 CRV 5 speed, and a chipped 1.8T Jetta 5 spd)

Decent sound isolation at hwy speeds with the roof up.

1. The rear window has a 2-3" rip along the edge. (looks like it plastic failed at the stitching in the top driver side corner of the window).... repair options (other than duct tape :) )

2. A bit of white smoke on startup.... I believe that this may be normal for boxsters (due to the horizontal cylinders...) Smelled like oil, not antifreeze.....

The top

you'll find options for how to deal with the top here

White smoke on startup

can be harmless and due to the drain down into the bottom of the cylinders of a car not recently started. It can also be the sign of a failing Air Oil Separator (AOS) which is about a $120 DIY replacement or $600 at your favorite mechanics.

Get a good Pre-Purchase Inspection done on the car by a Porsche mechanic who knows P-cars. The inspection can tell you what is wrong with the car now and what preventative maintenance will need to be done in the near future. The difference between two cars, one well maintained and needing nothing and one superficially the same but needing lots of maintenance that wasn't done by the previous owner can be $$$$$$. Porsche maintenance doesn't cost like a Civic's.
