New MB Quart Speakers

Have read lots of posts about upgrading the speakers in a 996 coupe. Just received a pair of MB Quart PVI-210 speakers for the dash. Most folks recommend using the MBQ crossover that comes with these speakers, even though they are large and require some creativity to hide.

My question, possibly dumb, but genuine...

Porsche wiring brings two wires to the old speaker assembly. MBQ crossover has four input wires: Tweeter pos & neg; Woofer pos & neg. I assume I will need to cut off the old Porsche connector, and to each factory lead splice two wires so that each of the four input connectors can be fed from the factory amp. Yes, I'm going to keep the factory amp in phase 1 of this upgrade.

Pls advise before I fry something :-)
