I am looking to buy a 2009 C2 S that does not have self dimming mirriors , which I really want for the car. The Porsche dealers I have spoken to say that the car can not be retrofited with these mirrors. There must be someway to install the self dimming mirrors in the car. Any technical help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Self dimming mirror comes with Rain Sensor in one package as an option from factory so it'd be difficult to add on just the dimmer, however, the 2009 C2S with PDK are a must!

I'd like to know the same thing - if I find out anything tomorrow at the dealer, I'll let post back. Hard to find the options I want, but I hate to have to order and miss some of the deals out there now.

The dealer (service dept called Porsche to check) says no go - bummer :-(

They have a car I really like - all but the SD Mirrors. Deals are really good right now so I think it is almost nuts to let that stop me, but I hate to have to make a decision like that. I searched inventory for several states and the car here in town is the closest to what I would order custom, but the wait and the pricing make ordering a crazy option - probably would end up paying several thousand more just for that mirror trick.

Rain-sensing is standard, but apparently the wiring is just not right to add the SD Mirror. The sales guy said, well, if you really want it, anything could be done - but the cost would be far more than its worth.

I will clarify this tomorrow, but I am pretty sure they were talking about only the inside mirror when they said no.

I have been on this quest for self dimming mirrors for quite some time & have finally got all the parts & pieces in hand or on order for my 04 Targa. In your case you have a very simple option for the interior mirror which is to use one of the Gentex mirrors mentioned in various threads on this site. They come with options like the home link, compass etc. and are relatively inexpensive. In so far as the exterior self dimming goes that may be cost prohibitive on the 997 but you might be able to use the interior/exterior self dimming kit on the 996 assuming the mirror bases are the same or that yours coud be modified.[At least with the Gentex you get interior dimming with little cost or hassel.
