Temp/ Coolant light

I have a 1999 Porsche carrera manual. My Temp / Coolant light keeps flashing when I drive the car hard. I had the dealer replace the coolant expansion tank with the updated model as well as a new expansion tank level sensor.. I also had them replace the coolant with the correct brand. The car goes a little over 180 on the guage so its not running hot.. Any help would be appreciated thanks... Someone did mention i might have a bad cluster?

It's probably the coolant level or the sensor has failed. You may also find that the engine compartment temperature sensor has failed or fallen out of the grommet that secures it to the intake runner. When the sensors come loose they hang down near the exhaust. Once the sensor heats up it lets you know telling you that the engine compartment is overheating.

I do not think it is your cluster.

Thanks, Its not the coolant level or the temp because both are fine. I had them replace the coolant the tank and cap. and the tank level sensor. Where exactly can i find these sensors you mentioned? I have noticed my fan sometimes stays on for a while after I shut off my car. Also i put the code scanner and there are no codes.

its a slow blink with no pointer so im assuming its either 1 or 2 that Loren mentioned on the link. Where can i find the engine compartmet sensors? My fans do stay on for a little while after i shut off the car even though the temp is at 180

Do you mean the engine compartment purge fan? Because the front radiator fans do not ever run with the engine off.

You just said the magical phrase. "I have noticed my fan sometimes stays on for a while after I shut off my car." Without question the issue is the temperature sensor (996 606 113 00). Once you open the engine compartment look to the right just behind the first intake runner. It plugs into a grommet from the top. If you don't see the sensor (I suspect that you wont) look all the way to the right and down near the exhaust. The sensor is probably dangling in that area hanging by its wires. Put it back in its correct position and you're done.
