The fabric covering rod is completely removed from a 1997 Boxster and I'd like some instructions on how to reinstall it. Specifically the side that I believe fits in a groove, not the rod side that fits into the two holders at the base of the rear bulkhead. I've looked at the Boxster Service Manual from Bentley but it does not cover this detail. Page 3-25 is the only reference to this part that I can find. I'm a couple hours from the nearest Porsche dealership so it's not convenient to check with them. I also searched through the information on replacing convertible tops and did not find the info needed although there is great information on top problems.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

After getting sufficient light, I figured it out. The groove is inside (standing from rear of Boxster) below the bottom of the window.

Scubar:

There are three slots in the rearmost frame member of the convertible top mechanism, below the bottom of the window.

Take a look at the write-up on Mike Focke's Boxster Pages, here: http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/thetop-i...e%26replacement

Specifically, read the relevant section in the "Replacing the Top, a Do it Yourself Guide".

I think I know what you are referring to, but it's not clear from your terminology. After you read that section, post again.

Regards, Maurice.
