Wheels were perfect. I polished lips regularly which now I'm thinking maybe they were cleared and I polished the clear off???? Went on a road trip and wheels were dirty for about 10days. Now they won't come clean. I've tried mothers polish , never dull, cleaner wax and nothing works. Any suggestions. Should I try to use a machine to polish or buff wheels? Help

Looks like something has attacked the painted lip and etched it, try regular polish see if that works

To me it looks like the lip was originally clear coated after manufacture, now the clear coat has been etched by some kind of contaminant.

Try a fine cut paint polish in an inconspicuous place and see if it improves, if it does then you have to decide if that process will meet with you expectations or... you may have to strip and refinsh the lip.

+1. Fogging or etching can be caused by acid-based wheel cleaners, which would mean a strip and refinish if the clear is peeling or deeply etched. A good polish (try by hand at first) might be a solution if the damage isn't too great, followed by a trip to the store to buy a better wheel cleaner. Best of luck...
