Does the boxster intake mani bolt up to the 3.4L engine? Reason is my engine came without the intake mani.

I know that the boxster intake mani does not have the secondary valve which opens up but a friend of mine suggests creating a better mani using aluminum in that area.

It will bolt up, but tests have shown that if you use the single plenum manifold the car won't make any more power than the 2.5 you replaced, so do it properly and use the proper manifold.

Out of curiosity, would there be any gains from swapping the other way around 3.4 manifold on 3.2??

I am going to try this, using a Cayman/987 manifold/TB and enlarged 3.5" MAF and intake tract on a 3.2l 2000 motor

From what I remember the bolt holes on my 3.2 manifold did not match up with those for the aluminum intake runners (996 engines... or at least the 3.6... have aluminum stacks that connect to shorter (inheight) intake manifolds)

As you state, the 996 and boxster intake manifolds are designed differently. The boxster ones bolt to the heads directly, and thus will bolt to the heads of a 996 motor once the intermediate manifolds are removed. The 3.8 motors did away with the intermediate manifolds and like the boxster, now bolt directly to the heads. So as I stated above, yes the Boxster manifolds will bolt directly to a 996 motor, but I wouldn't do it.

Curious to know the results of your planned swap.

I wonder if the issue experience by those who swap in 3.4 motors into 2.5 Boxsters will be an issue with your swap. I am referring to the velocity of the intake air affecting the MAF reading as it passes over the MAF.

Please let us know if this occurs here as well.

Regards, Maurice.
