I am looking to put 18 inch Sport Design wheels on my car. As new ones are no longer available from Porsche UK would anyone have any suggestions whether I should go for refurbished original ones or new replica ones made by RH of Germany? They are supposed to be the same weight.

Check E bay for GT3 replicas. They are cast alluminium available only 8x18 and 11x18 for wide body P cars (C4S and Turbo only) Great price for set of 4 plus S&H from east coast. Phone# 866-745-7467, "Wheels and Caps". Hope this helps JIM

I have Sport Designs on my MY99 996.

I got them new as exchange for my old wheels through wheelenhancement.com.

To match the Mk1 GT3 specs the fronts need to 8.0" wide and the rears 10" wide.

You can see pics of them on my car in my Registry images (link below)

Thanks Loren, Sport Designs are the way to go. I can get refurbished ones in the UK with N tyres for £1800. Replicas are only £400 cheaper and not truly identical.

You may want to look at Wheel Dynamics, in Monterey Park, CA. They have a few sets of the MkII GT3 replicas and the Race Inc. Style 909 Forged which looks like the MkI.

The MkIIs are pressure cast, made by Forest in Italy. I have the 8.5x18 and 11x18 on my '02 996 with stock suspension.

Pity I'm in the UK though

Yes, the cost of shipping would be quite much. Perhaps someone in the UK can source the Forest wheels for you.

Do you have any experience with those wheels? I wonder about the build quality.

That was my firs question, but about $600 per 4, I was going to give them a try. I have not seen the rims and don't know about the quality. Might want to call the place and ask them, from their ad they are pretty sure about the quality. Say they are guaranteed to be true. Might check out where they are made (China????) JIM G
