I have a 2003 Boxster S with Tiptronic, factory sport exhaust, and about 22,500 miles. The Check Engine Light (MIL) came on. It drives fine with no noticeable problems. I bought the Durametric software and just came up with the following: "Code P0492, Fault code 208, Secondary Air System Bank 2." From the RennTech code info, it says that this is also "below limit." I reset the code and ran the car very briefly and the code did not re-occur right away. I suspect that it might come back in time.

Any suggestions on what this might be? Since I have the software, I can check various signal readings in operation.

P0492 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 - Insufficient Flow

Possible cause of fault

- Electrical fault in power supply or line between relay and secondary air injection pump

- Secondary air injection pump relay mechanically faulty

- Mechanical fault in electrical secondary air valve

- Pneumatic secondary air valve faulty/sluggish

- Electrical fault in secondary air injection pump

- Mechanical fault in secondary air injection pump or secondary air injection pump blocked

- Vacuum system leaking

- Air hose to secondary air injection pump slipped off or constricted

When you first start the car do you hear the air pump (sounds like a small vacuum)?

If not - check to see that it's electrical connector is plugged in, check the fuse (40A fuse on relay panel 2), and then the relay (relay position 10).
