Hello folks....,

Since yesterday the check engine light show code P0115(engine temp sensor).

The Boxster is a 1999.

The only thing i can say is that the engine never reach the 180 degrees. On the road it never goes higher then 140 degrees while the exterior temp is around 34 f....is this normal?Otherwise the engine run normaly and perfectly.

I would like to know if this is normal and if not i will change as recomanded the engine temp sensor. I would also like to know if the sensor is the one located on top of the engine on the right side?

Thanks in advance

Robert

I already answered this in your first post here.

So, I am closing this duplicate.

The sensor on top of the engine is the "Engine compartment temperature sensor" The engine temperature sensor is located approx. in the middle, lower front side of the engine (behind the firewall 986). 140° F = 60° C is too low in the conditions as mentioned in your post. Since the fault code P0115 refers to a implausible signal and the gauge shows only 140° F, i would (let) inspect the wiring, sensor and thermostat first, and in that order.
