hi,

i've got a 2001 996 C4. when i roll down the driver's side window the outer door seal goes down too. it seems that; either the seal has lost it's will, or that the window is tited our further than it should. the seal on the passenger side seems more level, so i'm assuming that there's less pressure on it from the window.

i've looked at some posts regarding window height, but how do you lean it (window) in or out. i'm not scared.

thanks

I have the same problem on my 99 C2 Cab. I just lube the seal every few weeks with a dry lubricant. I think there's an actual window seal lubricant out there somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.

thanks for the advice, and i'll let you know if i come up with a good solution. the dealership (my car's a CPO) won't pay for new seals even though they realize the seal is the problem.

peace

Same problem here when the sun heats it up. I wax the window whenever it starts which will last a few weeks.

thanks, i'll try the window wax.

Since you are not scared, there is a relatively easy solution to adjusting the window's inboard/outboard angle of travel as it goes up and down. ;)

There are bolts at the base of each of the two (one front, one rear) legs of each window regulator, and they can be accessed without having to take the door panel off.

Just look underneath the bottom of the door (the horizontal part that spans the inner and outer door skins), toward the front and toward the rear of the door.

You will find a rubber plug (actually two on each side) that gives you access to the 10mm (IIRC) nut that you can just loosen slightly and, in your case, just pull the stud that it is screwed onto slightly inboard. That will give you the adjustment that you are looking for.

Remember, a tiny amount of movement at the base of the leg of the window regulator will produce a lot of movement at the top of the window. The entire window regulator assembly "pivots" at a point that is about 4 inches below the top of the metal door.

I posted pics of the particular plugs (as there are two on each end) that you have to access about a year ago, but can't find the thread. Do a search here and you should find it.

Regards, Maurice.
