I just wanted to share an idea I had for a mod/hack that I haven't seen on any of the forums or on anyone's personal page of mods.

This mod/hack involves the screen/mesh wind deflectors placed in the rollbar behind the driver's and passenger's seats. I originally planned on doing this to my car, but I do not have the deflectors and I figured they would be a pretty cheap part to replace, but the only price I have seen so far is $100 each. I still need to contact Sunset and see what kind of prices they quote me, but that is besides the point.

My idea was to buy some Porsche logo/crests (2 to be exact) and attach 1 to the back of each deflector around the center of it. That way when you have your top down, people wouldn't just see the plain black mesh deflector, but they would see a porsche crest right in the middle of the deflector.

Add a little bling and style to it.

I attached a quick photoshop to give you an idea...

If anyone attempts this or does this, let me know of your results, maybe I will eventually cough up the money for the deflectors...

I've seen several PCA badges done on the driver's side usually. I'm still considering it but would not want to drill the mesh. Maybe double stick tape - the thick version my wife mounts art with. Maybe some kind of non-hardening putty?

I've also wondered if it might whistle at speed.

Hello there! My 2004 Box didn't come with the mesh deflector either..... but I have the clear screen plastic windscreen between the seats. May I ask where I can get these two mesh ones from? I tried to search ebay and the net but couldn't find..... what term should I use, or what part numbers are they? Anyone have a link? Thankyou!!

I've searched around the internet. I found some on Suncoast Porsche for $100 each. And the cheapest I have found is through Sunset Imports which is linked to through this site. They quoted each deflector for $94.30. Every once in a while, you can find them on E-Bay.

whall gave the part numbers, although I'm showing a different part number for the left one, 583 instead of 585.

986 561 584 00 - Right

986 561 583 00 - Left

If anyone has any extras, let us know, I'm sure me or yellowlemon would probably be willing to take them off your hands for you.

The ones that show up on eBay are usually "lifted" from unsuspecting Boxster owners who left their top down in a parking lot. Easy to grab and sell...

I've heard of them blowing out so I took a thin black zip tie and strapped the bottom of each to the roll bar. You don't notice the tie unless you really look.

I've done the same and one better. I've drilled and tied the bottlm of my clear plastic windscreen. Nothing gonna blow outta this car......well, perhaps my hat!!! See photo and find the 4 ties.

The windscreen tiew are a pain to replace occasionally because the clear windscreen must be removed to clean the inside of the plastic window on the top.

I can see where that would be a pain but you shouldn't have to remove it too often I hope.
