Hello All. I have a '04 Boxster S and just did a B&M short shifter upgrade. All went smooth except that I can not for the life of me figure out how to disconnect the shift knob from the shifter. I cannot find any means to reuse the original shift knob. Has anyone come across this and if so, what was the resolution? I would rather not have to purchase another shift knob if I don't have too. Any help is appreciated. I have a message to B&M but wanted to ask the forum also,

thanks again

Bob:

The shift knob "just" pulls straight off. I put the "just" in quotation marks because it requires an inordinate amount of force to actually pull it off.

First double check that there is no set screw in your particular shift knob. If there isn't, you just have to pull on it straight up. It's so hard that some here have punched themselves in the face while attempting. A good method is to take the top down and straddle the console with one foot on the passenger side and the other on the driver side. If you have the whole assembly out already, you are going to have to mount it in a vise to have any chance of pulling it off.

Regards, Maurice.

If the shifter is out of the car already then you will need to put it in a vise and pull the knob off. The B&M instructions do say to take it off first.
