hi, just bought a boxster 2.5 - 98, with over 110k miles on it, everything looks fine and driving it is a lot of fun :D

However the engine rpm at minimum are always above 1 even if I've been driving for a while, as well as there is a noise from the engine as if a "turbo" is always on, some sort of low and continuous whirring...above all at low rpm.

Is it normal or should I be check for some fault? By the way no faluts code diplayed!

Congrats on the new purchase! One thing you'll want to do (and is a good idea as a preventative measure anyways) is to clean out your throttle body. There's tons of info on this site for how to do that, but eseentially, you'll put the top in "service mode," disconnect the air intake tubes from the throttle body, and use some good carburator / throttle body clearner on the entire inside, lips, and butterfly (the piece that swivels if you push on it). There's probably just some black and gunky residue build up is all, nothing serious.

thanks for the advice I'll do it, however I'm still concerned about the rpm, having them at 1 or slightly above even when the engine is running at a minimum does not sounds good to me...
