Like most 996 owners I have issues with rattles in my 2002 cabriolet. There are excellent instructions for removal of the door panel, which I will use to attempt to locate a rattle in the passenger side door, but another rattle (more like constant tapping) is right above my head in the roof.

If I reach up and press on the panel right above the driver seat the tapping stops. When I let go it is right back again. This developed last fall and is back this spring (car is not driven in winter).

I have searched here and at Rennlist and cannot find anything on this. Can anyone tell me where I could find instructions to pull back the cabriolet headliner to inspect the roof to try to isolate and stop the tapping. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

Are you sure it's not the little plastic covers that go over the emergency latch releases? Mine rattled like crazy until I took Loren's advice and put some fabric tape on the backside of them.

What covers are these? Where located and how to remove?
