I was getting on the throttle accelerating and the CEL came on this morning. Codes that came up were P0301 and P0600. I referenced the list and saw that they were: Misfire, Cylinder 1, Damaging to Catalytic Converter and, CAN Time-out - Signal Implausible. I'm hoping that the misfire can be corrected by replacing the spark plugs but not sure how to tackle the other one. Any suggestions/insight?

Loren, I pulled the ignition coil on cylinder one and found no visible cracking/corrosion/damage. The plug looked slightly fouled so I changed it out. The car had its 60K MX done 8000 miles ago by the previous owner so I'm assuming all the plugs were changed out then as per major maintenance protocol. I don't know if I just have a bad plug or if the ignition coil has something to do with the partial fouling. Unfortunatly I don't have a PST2 to clear the codes from the OBC. I'm assuming I'll have to put the car through 3 drive cycles per the book to see if the CEL goes out. If it does it was probably the plug, if not I'll probably change out the coil. For anyone thats had a coil crap out on them, what evidence was there visually, as well as changes in how the engine performed/sounded? The car sounds/performs exactly the same prior and after the plug change so I'm leaning towards a problem with the coil, though I would assume the engine would be running rough if the coil was bad, no? Any of you guys around Long Island, NY have a PST2 I could rent from ya?

You don't need a PST2 to clear the codes you have. Most codes can be read and cleared with a Generic reader. The one I have cost about $40.00 and will read any OBDII codes. I keep it in the car now and will buy a replacement for my truck.
