Do a search for AOS here and you will find lots of links including diagnosing whether youir problem is the AOS. Part numbers and a DIY are in the links.

Ross? how many miles are on the car? If the oil filler pipe has not been replaced, I'd do it now also!

It is MUCH easier to do when the AOS is out of the car!!

Let me know what year car you have and I'll get the oil pipe part number for you :)

If you replace the oil filler pipe (part #19) be careful not to put stress on part #15. The ears that hold it to the engine block break easily. I found out the hard way and had to replace it as well.

Replaced AOS and filler pipe but looks like the main culprit for the problems was the oil pipe under the aos was in 2 pieces
