I need help with speaker wire colors. 2001 996 C2. There are two wires, one yellow and one yellow with a brown stripe. Does anyone know which one is the "+" and which is the "-"?

Looked it up in the tech manual. Yellow/brown is negative, Yellow is positive. This is for one speaker, but basically all the color/browns are negative and the solid color wires are positive. The color mix is based on which speaker it is. This should help keep the speaker in phase.

Yellow/Brown is front left minus (-)

Yellow is front left plus (+)

Thanks for the reply. So for the other speakers, the one with the stripe is generally the minus (-)?

Speaker wire colors will vary to some degree depending on the car model year - as well as model of radio (or PCM) and any amp/speaker option sets.

So please state the above and someone will try to help you...

Thank you kbrandsma. Bought the car and the seller told me radio was dead. A few hours and a lot of help from this forum and all is up and running with the original equipment! Thank you all.
