Hi all Cabriolet Porsche owners.

I have a 2000 Cabriolet and would like to know i it is a good idea to keep the top down (folded) for a long time (few weeks or months).

I live in SoCal and there is not much rain in Spring thru Fall. Will doing this cause damage to the plastic window?

I noticed that if the top was down for a day or so when I close the top I saw some waving (un-flat) spots on the plastic window but they disappear after awhile.

Your suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Nghia:

Porsche sells what they have labeled a "Cabrio Rear Glass Cover" , part # 986 563 855 01 for this purpose.

I use one on my Boxster when I put the hardtop on for the winter. It's basically a piece of fleece-type material in the appropriate shape and size. If you don't want to buy the part, you might use a piece of soft cotton cloth or towel. The idea is to prevent dirt particles from rubbing into plastic to plastic contact when the window folds up.

Regards, Maurice.
