dear loren please help me about car battery ah and make/brande 997 targa RHD ROW the car is come with orignel battery 70 ah from germany but most of the time car parke at home not driven the battry dead after one year i am work in porsche delear in pakistan i am change the dead battery with new battery orignel battery 80ah see the PET the three option 70ah 80ah 95ah i am fit the 80ah battery highe ah rate can help to start the engine after the longe parke time but car onwer does not satsfay and he tell me you give me technicial logic hope fully you can help me about this matter

Any of those battery ratings will work fine in your car.

The basic rule is that the more electronic options you have the more power you consume - so a heavily optioned car would get the higher rated battery.

Also, if you live in a cold climate I would go with the 80 or 95 AH battery.

Porsches cars have a normal parasitic draw of 25 to 35 milliamps, it is recomended that customer use a battery maintainer to keep battery fully charged when vehicle is not driven on daily basis. If battery continues to go low, cell plates will sulfate and not let the battery charge properly. Also keep in mind when vehicle not driven daily is that the battery charge goes lower, customer may then drive a short distance with high consumer load(especially in cold weather,ie... wipers,window defogger,blower motor ect....) and the alternator is able to keep up with these but may not put the full charge back in battery. After doing this several times in a row the battery may reach a point when there is not enough amps left in it to start the vehcile. Therefore a maintainer is nearly manditory on this vehicle when sets for periods of time.

I would second Loren's post that you use a "Battery Maintainer" to keep the battery in your 997 properly charged.

As he stated, a common problem with batteries in the 997 is that if the car is not used, the battery will go dead because of the electronics in the car keep a constant drain on the battery.

Get a battery charger maintainer with your new battery.

One question: Where do you drive a 997 in Pakistan?
