After moving back to Europe last summer, i went to Germany to try out my '06 997 Carrera. Could be even a littlt faster, but it was late afternoon, so little busy... Great roads though!!!

I remember those days! I could only get 135 out of my 74 911. Passing an east German Trabant with almost a 80 mph of relative motion was a bit of a white knuckle experience.

i hit 305kph on the autobahn last year in a 997 turbo... still had a bit left in it. there was no chance to get the picture like you did though :-)

Was doing 180 during my Euro delivery. Never would stoop to taking a photo when running at those speeds! I was looking WAY down the autobahn during those runs!

PQR5CHE,

You'll be happy to know that I've just set your photo as the background for my desktop.

I just noticed that your oil pressure gauge is at 4 bar. Mine pegs at 5 around 4000 rpm. Does the pressure start dropping after a steady run at 6000+? 'Course if you were a little too busy to notice, I fully understand! Cheers, you lucky dog!

You were lucky to find a clear stretch of autobahn without roadworks or a pegged speed limit. At those speeds you can really feel the benefits of PASM or sport suspension , the car is a lot more planted and responds better to steering input , particularly on bends. You also realise the benfits of good brakes as within seconds the speedo can read 130 kmph as a result of slower traffic pulling out.
