Renntechers,

I have a 2000 model 996. i bought a cartridge type oil filter elment for it that i bought online. It's what the www.automotion.com web site recommended when i entered the make & model. when i look at the filter thats on the car, it doesnt look like a cartidge type filter. it looks like a spin-on disosable filter. I'm attaching a photo. is this what the Porsche cartridge type filter looks like? I odnt want to take it off and then have to order another filter.

thanks

That is the OEM cartridge filter cover. Raby Enterprises is making an adaptor for a spin on filter, but that isn't one.

That's the canister that houses the filter. Unscrew it, R&R the filter and o ring, fill with clean oil and replace it hand tight ot until flange lightly seats and compresses the oring. Someone will probably chime in with the torque figure.
