The clutch system operate from two different source on the 996TT. The clutch actuation system and the steering system for extra boost. Normally migration can happen from the steering reservoir to the clutch reservoir. But not the opposite. My guess is you must have a leak somewhere and I suggest to operate the clutch several times with the engine running and take a look under the car in the middle where the clutch line connection to the slave actuator is located...

If it's coming from the slave or the accumulator...it's Pentosin and that stuff is highly flammable. Nothing to fool around with. There have been a number of car fires directly related to Pentosin leaks. The stuff is under pressure and sprays...can hit the hot exhaust and ignite.

Does anybody know if the clutch accumulator goes bad often in these cars? My hydraulic oil is not going down as much but my pedal is really tough right when i shut the car off. I know it is supposed to get harder as you pump and empty the accumulator but right away?

Thanks and sorry for the hijack...

It's quite common for the clutch accumulator and/or the slave to go out in these cars. I've replaced my accumulator. A lot of the dealerships will encourage you to change out both since they're in the same spot....but I only changed out the accumulator and everything is working fine.

If you do a search on clutch slave and or clutch accumulator here and on Rennlist, you'll see a lot of folks had the same problem....

Best of luck...I'd try the accumulator first. IIRC it was only about $110 or so from Sunset Porsche...maybe cheaper. A dealership will want around $600 to fix it.
