Proceeding from a stop I shifted from 1st to 2nd...mid-way through the shift, it felt as if the cable broke. I was able to shift into 3rd, but now tranny won't do anything. Any advice, please?

BTW, I tried the search tool but couldn't find a relevant topic.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pulled center console. Shift cable is broken...pulled the cable out of its sheath. Its broken about 3' from gear shift. Does anyone have a link to a shift cable replacement guide or DIY? Also, does anyone have the part number for the shift cable (its the passenger side cable for a '99 C2).

Thanks.

Your dealer will need to know if you have option M220 (Limited Slip Differential) and your VIN to get the correct cable (they changed mid year).

They run about $315 US Retail.

Is there a DIY or other detailed instructions on how to change the cable yourself?

Thanks.

Jeff - What happened? How did you resolve your problem? I got a tranny stuck in 3rd but doesn't appear to be a cable problem. (sorry about the blank post. just figured out you can edit a post)
