Hi does anyone know if anyone makes a mechanical LSD upgrade for the center diff in the 996 TT? Something that engages quicker than the viscus unit currently in the car? I've searched but found nothing... thanks in advance for any info.

thanks I will give them a call later, doesn't seem to be any specific info on the website.

are they pretty much the only place?

I don't understand what you are asking.

The TT has a transaxle in that connectes to a front wheel drive axle in front via a Cardan shaft.

right but goes through a viscous coupler that transfers power to the front wheels. in the 997 it is a mechanical/magnetic/electronic contraption.

so there are 3 differentials right? 1 in the rear (an open diff) one in the center (a viscous diff) and one in the front (another open diff)

Am I wrong?

While I could be mistaken here on this I would have to say that the easy answer to your question here is NO there is no upgrade to the center differential available.

I believe that because of the electronics involved with the AWD system that to change this out would be more costly then would be worth it.

Just my thoughts on this.

I have dealt with these and have yet to find ANYTHING built to withstand the tq/hp of a TT engine against it.

You know what we did (a lot)? We yanked all the 4 wheel stuff out and saved the owners upwards of 50lbs.

The coupler itself weighs 20+ lbs :(
