Hi guys,

This is my story..the bought my 2004 boxster s about couple of months ago and my drl is running fine. (btw, mine is a canadian model) since it's winter now, my car has been in my garage for about a month or so. Every so often i would turn on the car and sit in it for fun. This time, i've noticed that my lights no longer turn on when i turn on my car. I've checked the fuses (e1) i believe. and it seems to be fine. does anyone know what the problem is? if it helps, my headlights work when i turn them on manually. just not the drl, which usually turns on when i start my car. 0_0

Is the handbrake on? My VW turns the DRL off when you raise the handbrake up a notch or so.

yeah, i checked the handbrakes. ~_~ doesn't seem to be the problem. Thanks for your reply

The relay is a double relay in positions 6 and 7.

The relays are above the fuse bank. 6 7 would be second row from the top - 1st and second positions from the left from the left.

If you do not have this relay then it is not likely a Canadian car.

Thanks for the quick reply. Though with your detailed explaination, my limited car knowledge seems to bring me to a hault once again .. i took 2 pictures of the relay in hopes that you can help me. 1, did i even take out the right relay? (i took out the one from the far left) and how can i tell if something is wrong with it? (nothing seems to be wrong iwth it besides the sticker is bloated in certain area...)

Thanks

DRL relay is part number 996.615.111.00

Try a new relay or a known working one from another car.

Hi Loren, i finally managed to get my hands on a drl and when i switched it in and tried to start the car, the engine won't "turn over"..i think thats the term. The lights on the dash starts flashing as i turn key....any clue? THanks again for the quick reply

WOOT IT WORKS NOW!!! sorry, i should have tried more things before asking. My battery was just out. Turns out i left one of the lights on and the drl works perfectly with the new relay. Thank you so much for all your help

The law in Switzerland just changed and since January 1st 2014 the lump must be turned-on.

Is it possible to install this double relay P/N: 996.615.111.00 on a Porsche 996 4S year 2004 manufactured in Europe?

Any other workaround/option will be really appreciated.

Many thanks for your help
