My 2003 boxster did not come with the rear windscreen. Am looking at adding this. A few simple questions: Are there brackets that hold it in place? If so, how are they attached to the rollbar? Am I wrong to think that this will be a simple project?

Thanks

From memory I think they are riveted on. I know it has been covered in this forum. Try a search and check DIYs.

It is not difficult to add the brackets.

Not to dissuade you, but I honestly don't notice a lick of difference between my rear windscreen on or off the car.

I do still keep the rollbar baskets in, though.

Mine rattles, really annoying!!

Mine rattled too and I couldn't see why until I noted that the plastic 'spring' inside the bracket was broken. I replaced the brackets to fix the problem, but after driving for a while without the screen in, I decided there wasn't a lot of difference with or without it. A little more buffeting at the back of your head, but so what it's a convertible and convertibles are breezy.

that is what I have wondered. I think I will wait till spring to decide whether to do this.

Put a little felt tape or some other cloth around the plastic pieces that the brackets hold on to and it will stop the rattle. I had the same issue.

I do notice a difference between having the windscreen in or out. I own one so I use it. If I didn't own one I wouldn't pay the $500 Porsche charges to get it. If you found one for less I think it's worth putting in. As far as I can tell if you're comfortable aligning and tapping holes into the roll hoops it's not hard to install.

Replacement clips are only $2 each. Cheapest thing on the car! Fix those rattles!
