I had my car at the shop and when I got it back I can't remember if there is supposed to by a plastic belly tray covering the transmission. Is there supposed to be a belly tray in the area in green. I went to the dealership to check under some of their cars but they only had 997 Turbos and they had this area covered. Also in my picture the red arrows show some clips that are supposed to clip to something (this plastic underbelly tray I think).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Paul

Look at this picture of my car before I start working on it. Is it of any help?

That's funny. It's almost an identical picture. Thanks for posting it. Yours looks like mine - so either there isn't a plastic cover there or we both are missing a part. I'm thinking there isn't a plastic cover there.

Hi Loren,

Thanks for sending the parts diagram. Someone told me that this is for the automatic. There is another part for the manual. It is listed in the catalog, but no picture is shown. It's for a manual transmission, it says "rear outer cover" in the description. The part number is 99650402900. What do you think?

Thanks,

Paul

Item 5 has a different part number for a 6-speed and a Tiptronic - but the same diagram is used for both.

6-speed is: 996.504.029.00

Tiptronic is: 996.504.029.01

MY05 Tiptronic Turbo S is: 996.504.029.03

Most illustrations is the parts program have all options and you have to look at the parts listing to match the parts with your car. That is why parts department people ask for your VIN - if you enter the VIN the parts lists highlights the exact parts for that VIN.
