Do anyone knows how much it cost to reseal the winshield? Mine is making some sqeaking noise. It's 996 coupe if it makes any difference.

Don't know for sure but it only costs around $250 to get the windshield completely replaced, so it should be less than that.

Your car is a MY99 right?

There was a TSB# 4/99 6420 Noises at the Windshield and Rear Window (dated 7-13-99) that says to replace:

996 541 903 00 New/Foam rubber cord (6 mm x 6 m, enough for one window)

996 541 531 01 New/Outer seal for windshield

The procedure does not require removing the glass just replacing the seal and should take less than 1 hour. Sometimes only the new foam rubber cord is needed.

Is this a dealer cost for OEM glass?

I don't know about the $250.00 price. I just had mine replaced ('04 C 4 S Cab) and it cost $960.00. It came out perfect (my car only 800 miles on it when a rock cracked the glass).

I'm trying to get service people to call me back with available spots so they can check out the windshield. I've ask service person how much it will cost if I have to pay for it and he told me around $250 if they can get the windshield out and if they can't get it out then around $900.

I just had mine replaced for $435 installed.

I got some interesting info with regard to the glass during this process. The local dealership charged the glass company about $550 for the Porsche windshield. The price listed by the aftermarket US suppliers (PPG, Signa, etc.) for US manufactured glass it priced out about $150 cheaper installed than just the price of the Porshce windshield alone. I decided to go this route.

The glass shop calls me and says that they could not find an aftermarket manufacturer of the glass. All the companies (PPG, Signa, etc.) sell the same glass that is sold by the dealership. The only difference is that the the little logo of the OEM manufacturer (looks sort of like the Porsche crest - but its not) is blurred out. So essentially it same glass for a significantly reduced price. The manufacturer printing that is located in the lower driver's side corner is exactly like the factory original printing except you can see where the logo was blurred.

I got my windshield replaced @ 2000 km. First quotes where 750 Euro, after some phone calls, i got somebody doing the job for 420 Euro installed. The windshield is exact the same ( same manufacturer, same part numbers , PCM antennas inside ) as the orriginal.

Ok, I got it fixed yesterday. They were able to reseal it and only charged me $100. I also had to fix my key ignition mechanism. Few days ago I couldn't remove my key and it took me about 2-3 minutes to take it out. I tried to put the key back and tried to turn the key and I felt some resistance and felt very weird. I tried to start the car and everything seems to be fine but aircondition/heat wasn't working. The dealership fixed that issue under my extended warranty.
