Put this in the nice to know info.

My wife just took her 2002 Honda in because it wouldn't drive forward (Thank god it wasn't the Porsche or my Land Rover or I'd never heard the end of it, but thats another story!). Long story short Honda engineers confirmed to the dealer it was a bad Power Contol Module or PCM. Well it gets fixed and the service rep says it'll be $700.00 and change. Having read some obscure blurb about the PCM being part of emissions and reading the Federal Emissions Warranty. I asked the stupid question if it was covered. He said "Hum, don't know". Wife goes to pick up the car and viola! no charge.

So moral of the story is go to this web page and read this once through to put into your memory. It covers a myriad of gizmos that I am certain get replaced and charged to the consumer who has no knowledge it was covered. The federal warranty is 8 years or 80K miles.

Cheers and Happy Porsche driving.

On three very specific parts is the warranty 8/80k

* cats

* ECU

* OBD

Be careful not to interpret this as covering too much else as the list of frequently failing parts is only covered for 2/24.

Except that in certain states, a state rule may be more generous (CA for example).

I had to fight tooth and nail with my BMW dealer to prove that cats were covered under the emissions warranty. I showed them the emissions details of the warranty book, BMW customer service even called the dealer and told my service advisor that cats were covered. They eventually agreed it was covered, but then wanted to charge a $250 diagnostic fee. Customer Service had to call them back to remind them that there aren’t diagnostic fees for warranty repairs. It took months for them to reverse the charges to my C.C.
