Hi everyone, I have a very annoying problem.

When my left hand side door glass is all the way down and I slam the door (not to hard, just to close it) there's a glass rattling noise.

This rattling happens when the convertible top is up or down.

This rattling doesn't happen the glass is all the way up, no noisy rattle.

This rattle doesn't happen I slam the shut the right hand side side door with the glass down!

If anyone one can help, perhaps with instructions and/or photos on how to get rid of the noise I would greatly appreciate it!

Regards,

Sam

Looks like the window have some play in the guide, you have to remove the door trim to inspect and pinpoint the problem.

Sam:

Your window regulator legs are probably not fastened securely, either at the base of either one (or both) of them, or at the spot where they attach to the inner metal door skin.

You can tighten one possible source without removing the door panel, the other two possibilities require removal of the door panel.

Here is a link to door panel removal DIY instructions: http://www.ecoutez.net/boxster/door-panel-removal/

Here are a couple of photos that show the possibilities, with the first one being the most likely suspect:

The red arrows are pointing to where the window regulator legs are fastened to the inner metal door skin. Tighten the bolt that is in each of those spots. (Note that the window regulator and the bolts have been removed in this photo).

The red arrow is pointing to one of the two clamps that hold the window glass to the window regulator bracket that rides up and down on the leg (one front and one rear). One of these may have come loose. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN these, as you can shatter the glass in the process.

The yellow arrow is pointing to the stud that is at the base of each of the two legs. On the opposite side (vertically below) is a nut that must be tight so as to not allow the leg to move inward and outward. You can tighten the nut that you find on each one of these WITHOUT having to remove the door panel. Under each door, near the front and near the rear of the horizontal metal surface of the door, you will find two oval, oblong, rubber plugs pressed into the two metal cutouts there. Pop out the rubber plug from each end that is closest to the center of the door and tighten the nut on each one.

Good luck!

Rgards, Maurice.
