Has anyone had experience of this before…..

The instrument pack lights would come on with the main lights in the morning on the way to work. When I got to work I could turn the lights off and on again and the instrument lights would fail to come on. They would also tend not to work on the return journey. They don’t seem to work at all now.

Instrument pack lights and all the lights on the interior that normally light up when the main lights are put on no longer work. This includes the ashtray light, window switches and heated seats.

The stereo, heater control panel and instrument digital displays work as normal. All the exterior lights work as normal

The lights don’t flicker on/off - they would either work or not. There did sometimes seem to be a second or two delay between the main light coming on and the instrument lights coming on. If the instrument lights do not come on in the first few seconds you can switch the lights on and off many times with no response from the IP lights.

Fuses are all o.k

Could there be a relay stuck? If so, where is it located? This seems like more than a bulb problem.

I am worried that a trip to the dealer will result in a bill for a new IP!

Thanks

Andy.

The light switch perhaps?

I am no electrician, but I would have thought that a bad connection in the light switch might have caused the dash lights to switch off/on at some point while driving. It is also strange that they stay on for a 25 min drive, but when the lights are switched off and on again they don’t work.

I will take the switch out and see if I can measure the volts going to the IP.
