I'm interested in finding one of the Bose Base Box rear deck speakers to add to my 2000 Boxster but I've had little luck finding one or even getting many hits on Google searches about them. Does anyone know a part number, official name or anything else I can use to search for one of these?

Why not a wrecking yard. There are certainly ones there.

There is a list of wrecking yards specializing in P-cars at http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/listsofsources

Though apply the caution above, Boze works well with Boze and nothing else so you should have the entire system...amp, door speakers, dash speakers as well as the rears. Has to do with the impedance of the speakers...Boze is a unique system for marketing reasons.

There are aftermarket non-Boze speaker cabinets that work with all the other amps Porsche has used.

OK...I replaced the rear deck of my 02 986 with the Bose subwoofer box that I got on EBAY for $350. All I did was make a loom for the wiring to the Bose rear deck subwoofer from the stock amp. It works great and you don't have to buy the Bose amp. Yes, it's only a tad under power, but it works good enough if you plan to keep your CDR-220 in your machine. I get good lows and highs from this set up.
