First off, some may know that i crack the oil pan in my mothers 996 and had to get a new engine. Insurence covered it, but we had to pay the taxes.. Now the new engine has a 2 year warranty, but we still owe the stealership some money.

She's had the check engine light on for a couple of months now, and yesterday morning it started to flash. (it was -5 celcius)

Its getting colder up here. Anyways, i read in the owners manual that :

If the check engine light in the instrument panel is flashing, severe cataytic converter damage and power loss will soon occur. Prolonged driving with the check engine light on could cause damage to the emission control system. It also could affect fuel economy and drivability.

Now, #1 is this really going to happen?

#2 what should i do?

#3 can i bypass the cats with an aftermarket exhaust?

Thanks guys..btw the codes were bad 02s

If you do not own any diagnostic tools (fault code reader) then have the car towed to your favorite Porsche shop.

If you drive very long with a flashing CEL you will damage those very expensive catalytic converters.
