Hi when I open the door inside or out my window drops as it should. When I let go off the handle window closes fully then catches on roof when closing door.

Any ideas?

Mine is 2003 3.2s

Thanks

Paul

Your window regulator is going out. The only way to fix it, is to replace it. Do a search and you will find instructions, or take it to the dealer.

IMO, if your window drops normally when pulling on either handle (inside or outside), then it is not likely to be your window regulator.

The problem is a faulty microswitch. One of the three that are in each door. Most likely the one in the door lock assembly.

Look for a post by member RFM. IIRC, he gave the solution for this exact issue a few months ago.

Its the Micro switch on the Door Lock which is not cheap. Takes about 30 minutes to install. The only problem is that you have to buy the whole lock assembly.

Micro switch in door latch, mine was replaced last year very same symptoms, you could try Porscheshop or Jasmine Porsche in the UK.

Hi thanks for the info. I fitted a new micro switch to the outer handle today still same. if I lift handle a little window drops fine then open door ok but if I lift handle normally window goes back up as soon as handle released.

Are 3 micro switches then? if so must be the one ine the actual lock if thats pos?

Replace the door lock/latch inside the door, not the handles.

Paul:

There is a microswitch behind the inner door handle. That one is activated when you pull on the inner door handle and it "tells" the window to drop 1/4 inch.

There is a microswitch behind the outer door handle. That switch is activated whe you pull on the outer door handle and it "tells" the window to drop 1/4 inch.

I believe that is the one you replaced, but it is not the correct one for the symptoms you described.

There is a third microswitch. I believe this one is located inside or next to the lock mechanism. That is the switch that "tells" the window to stay down the 1/4 inch while the latch on the door jamb is in the open position. When the latch on the door jamb is tripped by closing the door, that switch then "tells" the window to go back up the 1/4 inch.

That is the faulty one in your case. That is why your window is not getting the proper signal when you pull on the door handle. It starts out by getting the proper signal (from you pulling the handle), but then it doesn't get the signal that it should stay down the 1/4 inch because the lock microswitch is either faulty or maybe one of it's connections has come loose.

:clapping: Could you share some details on how you actually fixed it. I'm sure this topic will come up again.
